Have you read this book? I haven't, not yet.
It was a gift from a very good friend. Last week while she was on vacation she read it and says, it has changed her life.
My friend stopped by on Saturday evening and handed me a copy. Apparently she bought every copy at a local independent bookshop and then went to our Barnes and Noble and bought every copy they had. She then returned to the little bookshop and ordered several dozen copies.
In August she is celebrating a special birthday and has decided to gift a copy of Same Kind of Different As me to each guest attending her birthday party!

I'm looking forward to settling in with this book.
Later this week we will be flying to North Carolina to visit my Father-in-law.
I anticipate many hours of reading, relaxing, walking and enjoying the company of my sweet Father-in-law.
I'm still catching up on illustrations that have deadlines quickly approaching, and my stack of summer reads is getting taller each week.
So many books... so little time!
If you've read this book, I'd love to know your thoughts.

Sounds like a wonderful book Deb, right up my alley. I have been reading up a storm during this trip. Taking a wee break to catch up on the blogging world. Hard to resist!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a relaxing summer break. I am looking forward to entering back into it soon. We leave AUckland on Friday...23 1/2 hour flight back to London..yikes! Just picked up Jane Eyre for the flight...I am up for a little Charlotte Bronte these days.
Best wishes for a relaxing trip!!

I'm very slack at the moment in the book dept. Deb. It's so icy cold at night here, I can't stand having my hands outside of the doona for longer than 3 mins.! Enjoy your time away in NC.

Wow, that sounds like a great good and a really great friend. I was like that with Eat, Pray, Love. I just had to share it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like a wonderful book! It's reminding me to get to my "summer reading list"!

Debra: So nice to see you again! I have not read this book, however, it looks like a goodie. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation; NC is such a pretty place.
It's certainly a great title Debra, sounds perfect to take away on holiday with you. I love this idea of buying out the local book stores to give a copy to each party guest!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see you back on our comments again.

I need to add this
ReplyDeleteto my towering..
precariously rickety...
pile of summer reads!
It's been my goal the
last few summers to
read 10 books over the
summer.....Last year
I got close....this
year, not so much. But
I'm an optimist, so
I keep buying : )!!
Hope you are enjoying
your books and summer,
too! xx Suzanne
Hi Debra! Sounds like you are totally busy, but it is always good to see a little update from you. That book must be fabulous if your friend bought so many copies. I still struggle to read in a timely manner as blogging and summer have taken over my life. But I am almost finished with Mennonite in A Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen. Very good read! Enjoy your visit to your FIL! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOne more book for my humongous to-read list!!!
ReplyDeleteHave not read it but it sounds intruiging!! The Little Black Dress about mentioned sounds good too....love to read!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good read, I can't wait to hear how you like it. Safe travels and have a wonderful time in NC.
