Everything this lovely lady dips her hand into turns out so fetching.

Really...there are few words that describe how I love these fabrics.

So many books~

On Saturday I left for errands and mentioned that I might stop at our State Library.

My first stop after the impossibly boring errands was to the local Barnes & Noble. I was hoping to find a CD that I've been on the hunt for- no luck, but I had tea with a friend.

Next stop the State Library. I hadn't been in years. That is a horrible thing to admit as this fabulous place is 20 minutes from my home.

The bank of computers, the information desks and resource stations was staggering.
After browsing the arts sections, the cookbook section, the classics and perusing the newspapers from around the world I was on visual overload. That same overload I would get when in Atlanta at the gift and home shows.

I walked out 2 hours later... empty handed!
I couldn't choose~ Art, biographies, design, Chic Sheds...

What I need to do is carve out an afternoon to return and really dig-in. I also want to set aside time each day for reading. I've been involved in other home projects ~ and reading has been put aside since before the holidays.

More studio dreams~

You know how I adore a tiny out-building. I just had to go shopping for a few more to add to my growing collection. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect studio space.

~*~

I like the night-time glow of this one. I am secretly a night-time voyeur. I love driving slowly by homes and looking in the windows. Can you see the bookshelves inside?

The Gothic windows appealed to me.
I may have to genuflect upon entering.



Does this sweet space have a basement underneath?
I love the big windows on the front-great light, perfect for painting.

I would happily 'go-to-my-room' upstairs and hang out on the small terrace.

Victorian gingerbread meets miniature Taj Mahal.

I am re-posting this perfect winter cottage... because it's just perfectly-perfect.

I am imagining a small loft overhead-just right for a quick afternoon nap in between illustrations.

This is the same cottage as above - only this one is a bit more secluded. Accessed only by boat.

The waves gently lulling one to sleep.

This special hide-away has been seen all over the internet, and you can understand why- isn't it a dream?

Wouldn't you love to camp out here for a long weekend alone~ or with someone very special?

Oh delicious-I love the stone, but no chimney. I'm thinking great in the summer-not so great during the fall and winter. But now imagine this little get-away with a small stone fireplace.

I wouldn't mind getting snowed-in here.

I know many of you are getting blasted with an epic snow storm this weekend.

Here in Maine it's a near miss.

Light a fire if you have one, brew some tea, curl up with a quilt and a good book, snuggle with your cat or pup or significant other.

Stay off the roads if you can and enjoy the quiet.

Here's My Heart- Part One~

As we prepare to celebrate the most romantic day of the year~ {and one of my personal favorites} I thought I would share a few photos of my heart stone collection.

It started many years ago while walking along a stretch of beach in New Hampshire.

I glanced down and there was this almost perfect heart shaped stone.

It only takes one or two and you're hooked. You look everywhere. While hiking, walking on the beach, when out for your daily walk or run.

Some of my stones have been gifts from friends.
I treasure them all.

My collection led to all things heart-shaped. Rocks, paperweights, carved hearts, leather hearts.

Each one tells a little story of a special holiday, a vacation, a walk with a dear friend, a weekend away, the south shore.
I'm looking for a clever, space-saver way of displaying them.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Thank you so much for the comments and emails regarding my DH's knee surgery.

He is up and putting full weight on his leg now. He did look quite dashing for the two days that he used the old wooden cane.

I do think he will be returning to work today.

So we are no worse for the wear... but I'm glad that things are getting back to 'normal'.

~G O L D Cords~

While Christmas shopping I ran into the Gap for a gift card. While there I noticed these straight-leg 1969 cords. They were available in navy, a soft brown, gray, shocking pink, bright orange and

G O L D...really, really G O L D

I tried on the soft brown- perfect fit, comfortable... sold!

A week later I went back, wondering if they still had the navy. They did, in my size, $10.00 less than the soft brown pair... sold!
{I just couldn't find the image for the navy pair}

The week after Christmas I went back... by then I loved these cords and was just hoping that perhaps I would find the gray.

No gray- but the price had dropped and they were just about giving them away...

They had my size in shocking pink...and bright orange... and G O L D...

very G O L D !

I got the G O L D ! Did I mention that they are very, very G O L D ! I think I did!

For someone that wears mostly black, gray and white-these are a stretch for me.

I actually wore them out last week. I'm trying very hard to get happy with these. To step outside of my comfort zone.

What do you think???
