I am enrolling in Yoga and Pilates classes to strengthen my back and overall core and well-being.
I have taken yoga classes in the past and loved them- loved the flexibility, enjoyed the peacefulness of the classes... a mind cleanse if you will~ and how strong I felt.

I have never taken pilates before and I'm looking forward to it.
I will give them both some time, space out the classes and see which one I want to
become more involved with.

I would love to know your thoughts on pilates~ I'm there for the yoga classes, but pilates~ I'm not so familiar.

Hold that thought..I am coming over. I need some of the wonderful vibes you are sending here Deb! I have the reverse situation. I have done pilates for years and have always wanted to try yoga. I will be curious to see what you think.
ReplyDeletePilates is great if you keep the core in mind. It is easy to cheat...trust me, I know. If anything, the stretching from both will make you feel like a new woman.
You have inspired me now....as you always do!!!
Just picked up a latte for the road can be their in a jif...if there wasn't a little old thing called the Atlantic ocean between us :)
Have a super, fabulous, wonderful day !!
Jeanne :)
This morning I have yoga, and I always walk out of class on a cloud ready to cherish the day and more importantly, the moment. Enjoy both of them. One is not better than the other, and you can do both.

My mom's just started Pilates and she said it feels wonderful and strengthening at once. Good for you, D.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done either but want to...always figure I needed to get in shape first before being able to take those kinds of classes. My sister does pilates and raves about it!
ReplyDeleteOn a side note Deb any word on Joyce since her Surgery? I'm worried and wondering if it all went well.
It sounds wonderful. I'd love to do a pilates class.
ReplyDeleteI too am wondering about Joyce. I have been thinking about her for days. Sent a card, hoping she is ok.
ReplyDeleteI have several friends who do Pilates and love it! I admire your fitness goals, I am beginning to get out of control but have NO extra time for exercise. But I play tennis and walk the pups daily so at least I am doing something. xoxoxo
Ummm, Debra I'm embarassed to say I've not experienced either. But I've thought about it -does that count? I'm happy on the Golf Course, but I guess I should do more.

Hi Debra, I'm with you on the yoga, altho' not doing any at the moment, but I've never tried pilates. Will be interesting to hear how they compare.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to read Jeanne's post about your beautiful drawings. I'd love to see more of your work - another post maybe on your blog?
Did you train for this or has it just developed from a hobby?
Wishing you a great weekend.
Sharon
I would love to do yoga, just have not got round to it. Good luck with Pilates.
ReplyDeleteI love the post Jeanne did on you, your work is just wonderful.

Pilates is great for strengthening the core. I found myself much stronger and had less back pain after doing it. But alas, like anything else, it needs to be done regularly and continually - but the difference it can make is quite remarkable.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you are old enough to remember Romper Room...but I am and they always sang a song that started with "Bend and Stretch, reach for the stars...there goes Jupiter, here comes Mars"! Ahhh, the memories
