February 1, 2009~ No. 24

As many of you look forward to watching the Super Bowl, I will be very content to spend some time sketching. You see, I don't understand football, never have. There is something about it that I just don't get. I do love the idea of friends gathering and preparing dishes and cocktails for a little party, and I appreciate all of the excitement. I just don't watch the game. I may excuse myself, go into another room to read, I may sit in front of the fire with the dogs... or I may go to the drawing board.

One of these days I will be patient enough to learn what the game is all about~ but until then I am happy to watch those around me view the pre-game and wait for the kick-off. I'll be the one on the sidelines reading or sketching.

  4. Love the sketch - love all your sketches! We have some friends coming over to watch the game - the men watch, we chat and come in and watch the commercials, then go back to drinking wine and eating yummy snacks.

  5. I sort of liken it to "his" & "hers" so a certain amount of respect for him shall be granted. I guess it is after all, give and take to make a relationship, a home and a team.
Lovely illustration, now would that be your home?

    The best of both worlds.

  7. Your right... and "he" did a good part of the cooking and cleaning up, so I can't complain.
Yes, this is my home- the site of "lack-of-Super Bowl-etiquette"!

  8. Hi Debra,

Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind words. I think I am feeling better...I think...maybe...
Are you new to Maine? Where do you live? Maybe one of these days if you are coming to the big city of Portland we can get together for tea and a sketch.

  10. Ah, a kindred spirit. The only reason my husband and even knew there would be a football game on television last evening was because Bruce Springsteen was playing! After he finished, we watched part one of Sense and Sensibility on PBS!!

  11. Pamela~ Your's sounds like the perfect substitute for the big game- and a much better story.
