From this...to this!

~Christmas Clutter~
In the blink of an eye, my house went from looking like this...

~Void of all Christmas~

~No~ these are not my interiors!~

When we finally decided to take down the trees, garlands, {they were a definite fire hazard} wreaths, wooden Santas, paper chains and we coiled-up all of the crystal lights-there was no time to stop and take photos. I was on a mission. When I decide that the time has come to undecorate-there is no stopping me. I do find it all somewhat sad. I always wonder what changes will have taken place when I next see all of my lovely holiday ornaments.
Things are looking pretty stark here... and I think I'm enjoying it.
I actually write little notes and tuck them into the storage containers. It's always fun when I get them out for the next holiday. I can become such a sap during the holidays ...and even more so when I have to pack everything away.

Have you taken down all of your holiday decorations?
Am I the only one that feels sort of melancholy at the closing of the holidays?

  1. It is mix feelings to say goodbye to one and hello to another. I'm one of the crazy peeps- I take my decorations down the next day or for sure by nye. It could be something from my grandma I picked up, she never liked bringing the old year into the new one.

This is right about the time when I start wanting to do some kind of home projects, because everything looks so bare after all the decorations is put away.

    Enjoy my friend! xi

  2. Oh you captured it so perfectly, I always have wondered why no-one made a movie about that...the end of the holidays always seems one part sad and then one part good to be done with all the paper, tinsel and peppermint sticks!

  3. Better to take them down now instead of waiting until after Valentine's Day, which is what some of our neighbors do...

  5. No, you are not the only one who feels a bit sad. We used to take everything down on New Year's Day, but last year we took our lead from our neighbors and left it all up till epiphany on the 6th. We liked that so much, we decided to make it our new tradition. Made it better somehow.

  8. so funny... that's how I felt after taking our stuff down too. It's amazing how empty it all feels after packing away all your Christmas decor!
