Walk It Off~

~Walking on the treadmill~

Whether it's inside on a treadmill, or outside in the sun or rain, there is nothing quite like a good, hard, fast walk to clear the cobwebs and get the juices flowing. I attach my pedometer, lace-up and take off. A walk can do wonders to put a new perspective on things and to revisit some of the things that may keep you awake at night. I always feel refreshed, energized and raring to go when I return from a good, long, speedy walk.

Put Your Best Foot Forward and Walk It Off!

Do you take a brisk walk to clear the cobwebs?

  1. Yes I do. Walking does everything you say it does, plus keep the brownie calories off!

  2. I walk every day. I met an elderly woman on the Aqueduct walking, she told me she walks every day, 10,000 steps. She eats an apple a day, a small piece of fish and vegetables with the best olive oil! To me, she was a perfect example - she radiated beauty on the inside out! That is why I walk, I feel better on the inside out. I sleep better too. My dog likes it too.

  4. I love walking. I'm slowly getting up to speed to where I was a few years ago. I miss my walk around the lake. The desire is there, but not sure the body is. LOL... In time thought! Enjoy your walk! xoxo

  5. Purple Flowers~ It does help with those extra little treats.

PVE~ I'm heading out right now. I have so much energy after a gym workout or a good walk.
Wear a pedometer{if you don't already}-you'd be surprised how easy it is to walk 10,000 steps. I keep mine on all day.

M~ It is such a great time to think and clear things up.

  6. Oh, I love to walk! I was glad to leave the treadmill for the wide open spaces and shady trails when spring arrived though. I think I will dig out the pedometer ...

It makes me FEEL good, appreciate nature and I can get away with eating ice cream on a regular basis!

  8. Oh I love to walk too. The walks are so refreshing and it is also a very neighborly thing to do, walking along and staying connected to the community and observing the gorgeous area we live in.... and watching out for moose, etc. Just this past week a wolf grabbed a jogger*s dog, but dropped it when the jogger ran back at the wolf. That was pretty exciting and thankfully the dog was not harmed.

    Enjoy your walk today, Debra!!

  9. Great advice. I do like to walk, and with Norm walking is a must. If I don't have him out of the house by 8:30 am he starts staring at me. I must admit I do love our walks because I clear my head, sometimes catch up on phone calls or listen to my favorite podcasts from NPR like "fresh air" or "this american life" Walking with Norm is definitely a treat.

  12. Ina~ Geeez!!! What a story. One of my dogs would be a morsel for a wolf. We are having such a beautiful day here-I may go take another!

Sealaura~ Yes, one of my dogs keeps me honest by declaring it 'time'. Good for you- multi-tasking and getting things done.

Anne~ You must have a beautiful area for a walk.

Kwana~ I bet there is a lady in your neighborhood you could walk with.....

  14. I walk every day if I can! It's one of those things if I'm being really ownery Andrew will look at me, raise and eye brow and ask if I want to go for a walk. It does more than just clear the cobwebs for me :) It's a centering activity! So, so needed!

  15. Pamela~ I imagine wonderful, long walks for you and Edward. Lucca loves the time that it is just the two of us, off on a long walk.

Julia~ Perfectly said- it does bring one back to the center. Hopefully a nice weekend ahead for many walks along the beach.
