We are spending the weekend at the coast. It's a gorgeous spot, right on the shore, beautiful view, great accommodations {with one minor exception} with our dear, dear friends. The down side of this... I will have to use one of these! It is a sweet building-and you know how I adore a cute out-building. And this one- is very clean and well-appointed {if you can use those two words when describing an outhouse}. I really don't mind using it. I make very quick work of it and bolt out of there. WHY?

! THESE !
I have a real fear of spiders! We're not talking- eeewww...a spider! We are talking occasional nightmares, melt-downs and refusing to get into a kayak. A huge water spider once presented himself to me in the middle of the lake. He'd been hiding somewhere in the kayak and decided to expose himself to me. I was out of that kayak and into the water in a flash.
My husband frequently has to turn over our chairs outside just to 'check'. I won't carry wood in for the fireplace until after the first hard frost! I have had dozens of hair-raising experiences with these eight-legged creatures.
You have no idea how difficult it was for me to look at all of the spider images, while trying to choose the perfect specimen for this post!
So... there we are. I need to use an outhouse this weekend and who knows what's lurking in there, down there???

I know how difficult it is. I have the same fear for spiders. So thank you for that image (...not, it's now imprinted in my mind, and therefor I'll have a nightmare tonight)...It's really ridiculous -my fear-. The last time I asked my 8 year old son to remove a spider with our vacuumcleaner (Yes..I should be ashamed, Yes it's not a good example, yes, yes, yes, but it took me a very long time to choose between my son's help or being courageous enough to do it myself.....My fear won - bad bad mom.) Unfortunately the spider got away, so I had to sleep in another room. The next day I asked our neighbour for help..(my hubby was abroad for some days)..ppffff...
ReplyDeleteMy Lord, I need some serious (psychological)
help!!!!
Forgot to say: You're the SWEETEST! (your comment). Things will be back to normal in 3 weeks....XXX, Carmie.
ReplyDeleteOMG I would freak! I hate spiders with a passion. I'm getting itching just thinking about it. Have fun and good luck in the outhouse. Isn't there a Starbucks near by and you can use their facilities! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh how horrible, I think I heard your scream all the way here! The girls here are in agreement, that spiders shall remain happily in "Charlotte's Web." Not even chocolate covered would tempt me.

your fear is very real, as is my big 6 foot 3 son's fear of spiders ... i thought it was most brave of you to seek out a specimen for this posting ... fears can be gripping and ruling and take way too much of our energy ... i hope they are at the beach, or too busy spinning to bother you in the biffy!

lol! I'm with you ~ they scare the pants off of me. I once stayed at a the most gorgeous sea view campground on the french riviera...very rustic facilities that came with spiders like I had never seen before. Not to mention another critter that I fear: grasshoppers. I swear there were millions of them and they would jump on the tent. Their shadows made them look HUGE! I hardlt slept that night. Thanks for the trip down memory lane :)
ReplyDeleteEEKS... I don't like spiders either especially if they are hairy and big! I'm not sure what lives or visits down the dark hole, but I don't think it is Alice in Wonderland. Have fun Deb many hugs. xoxoxo....
ReplyDeletePS remember to bring a flash that you can hang around your neck so you don't drop it and LOTS of TP.
Oh good luck. Sorry about the spiders. Eek!
ReplyDeleteI love spiders. They are resourceful harvesters and they dispatch the nasty other bugs that I dislike. When I see a spider in an unauthorized area I make sure to relocate it. Many times there are spiders on our indoor tennis courts. Maybe in another life they played tennis..... I am the appointed spider mover..... Crazy, huh?
ReplyDeleteIt looks so beautiful there!!!! Have a peaceful pooh in the fresh air, & bring something good to read. The spiders will leave you alone.
ReplyDeleteENJOY!!!!! xoh
ha, i love heidis comment. Just remember your bigger than the spider. He is more afraid of you. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say, as far as outhouses go... that one is pretty nice (as nice as outhouses go, that is).
ReplyDeleteI don't do spiders well either Debra, so good luck!
