Barefoot in the kitchen~

~Italian Wedding Soup~

Well... maybe not barefoot...

It was cold on Thursday, and that always sets the tone as a good day to cook.

Soup is what we needed for dinner- so I made my version of Italian wedding soup. I made all of those tiny, tiny meatballs out of ground turkey breast, tossed them in the refrigerator for the day and started the soup. I refrigerate the meatballs when made with ground turkey, so they keep their shape when cooking in the soup. This simple soup is not going to fly if there isn't some hearty, grainy bread to go along with it.

~Ina Garten's Plum Raspberry Crumble~

Followed by Ina's Plum Raspberry Crumble {click above for recipe}. We rarely have dessert unless we have friends in for dinner. But after last night's Barefoot Contessa- how could I resist this. It's from the Barefoot in Paris cookbook.

  1. The best thing to do on a fall weekend! Make soup!!

  2. I worked with a wonderful Asian Woman who's dream was to be "barefoot" from her home to a garden - Her entire life, she never ever had the option, as she grew up in Shanghai and then to NY and always the rule was shoes off inside, and shoes on for outside.

Nothing is finer that cooking barefoot in a warm kitchen!

  3. Oh Deb I like Italian wedding soup. I love soup this time of year and salads in the warmer weather for dinner. Don't you?

Yummm.... your dessert made me think of this indian pudding I make during this time of year. After things settle I will have to get back into the kitchen.
Have a golden weekend my friend!! xoxo

  4. 1- I think that's the prettiest photo of Italian wedding soup I've ever seen. 2- that plum and pumpkin looks scrumptious! Must investigate and make. Thank you!

  5. Now I'm so hungry. I love a good soup. Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. I LOVE Italian Wedding Soup and also the name of the recipe. I bet the kitchen smelled divine!! A nice chilly Pinot Grigio to accompany the meal perhaps..... Have a great weekend!

  7. There is nothing like crisps, cobblers, and dumplings in the fall!! Looks so yummy!

  8. Despite it being Spring, it's still cold & rainy here Debra. In fact MOTH put a request into the kitchen this morning for soup tonight, so your post is very opportune, it looks yummy. Thank you for your beautiful comment over @ The Hedge for My Mum's Pink Post. We experienced the same loss, so your words touched me deeply.
    Millie ^_^
